Ceramic Coating FAQs

Our Cerakote service offers outstanding heat and wear resistance while preserving and enhancing the appearance of parts. Here are some of the more commonly asked questions.

What is ceramic coating / Cerakote?

Cerakote is a very thin ceramic paint that is capable of withstanding very high temperatures (up to 1000°c for V Series) and is very resistant to abrasion. It is a high end, premium finish that can really elevate any product.

How is Cerakote applied?

Cerakote ceramic coatings are applied with a spray gun and then cured in a oven to harden them. They require a good deal of knowledge and experience to apply correctly from initial surface preparation to consistent, even application and proper curing. We've spent a lot of time researching and testing to ensure that our finishes are second to none.

Which Cerakote finishes do we offer?

We are able to apply:

  • C Series - Air drying ceramic coating that can be used on larger parts that won't fit in our oven.

  • H Series - The go to for most parts that won't see extreme temperatures, brake calipers, valve covers, suspension components etc. Even suitable for the cooler parts of exhaust systems.

  • E Series - An even thinner coating suitable for components where tight tolerance fit is important, sliding surfaces, screw threads etc.

  • V Series - This is what's needed for VHT (Very high temperature) applications. V Series can withstand 1000°c so is perfect for exhaust manifolds and is available for coating piston skirts and crowns.

What can Cerakote be applied to?

Any metal that can withstand the oven curing process. The surface also needs to be prepared to a high standard, which involves delicate media blasting, meticulous cleaning and more often than not degassing cycles in our purpose built oven.

What colours and finishes are available?

Cerakote is available in a huge variety of colours and new colours can be mixed too. It's available in various finishes including metallic, crinkle, hammered and flat and different gloss values too.

How much does Cerakote Cost?

We charge a flat rate of £60 per hour plus materials and a £10 per hour oven curing charge. However, Cerakote is a relatively quick process once the preparation is done and working in batches can save a lot of cost. Get in contact for a quote and to ask any questions.
