Ultrasonic Cleaning FAQs

Gentle, precision cleaning for hard-to-reach areas, including carburettors and other engine components.

How does ultrasonic cleaning work?

Ultrasonic cleaning uses sound waves and a cleaning agent to create microscopic implosions that remove dirt from surfaces. The imploding bubbles act like scrubbing brushes, gently cleaning the item.

Is ultrasonic cleaning safe?

Ultrasonic cleaning is generally safe for most parts, but the choice of cleaning solution is important. The detergent can be enhanced by the ultrasonics. However, use of the incorrect cleaning fluids can have adverse effects on the material being cleaned. That's why it's important to choose a company who have the knowledge and experience to make the correct selection for your specific parts.

What size parts can be cleaned?

Our machine can take parts up to 260 x 200 x 100mm (10 x 8 x 4 inches) Maybe a little larger if they can go diagonally in the cleaning basket.

What materials can be cleaned?

All metals, plastics, rubber, glass and any other non-porous materials can be cleaned with ultrasonic cleaning.

Is there any preparation needed for ultrasonic cleaning?

Yes, as with all our services, the first step is a good hand cleaning to remove thick deposits of dirt and grease. This step can range from a full degreasing in our parts washer to a quick wipe with a damp cloth. It depends how dirty the part is.
